Economic Affairs Interim Committee Topics

The Economic Affairs Interim Committee has three studies assigned by Legislative Council for the 2017-2018 interim and is named as a participant on a subcommittee assigned under HB 661 to the Legislative Finance Committee to study the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and other labs at Montana State University-Bozeman.

Other committee topics include recommendations for study by committee members. This interim there is a proposed continuation of a study of broadband from the 2015-2016 interim.

The committee also monitors the programs and functions of the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Labor and Industry, and Livestock, as well as the Office of the State Auditor and Insurance Commissioner, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the Montana State Fund, the Division of Banking and Financial Institutions, and the Liquor Control Division.

The SJR 20 study will look at unemployment in high poverty counties, including on Indian reservations. Click here for study materials and here for final report.

HB 661
The HB 661 study of the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab and other labs at Montana State University-Bozeman has joint members from three committees and is staffed by the Legislative Fiscal Office. Click here for final report.
