The Local Government Interim Committee (LGIC) will continue its interim work and review potential draft legislation.

The meeting starts at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14 and reconvenes at 9 a.m. on July 15. Committee members may participate by video conference or in person in Room 152 of the Capitol Building. 

The committee will review draft legislation related to the following topics on Tuesday, July 14:

  • the Multifamily Coal Trust Homes Program;
  • workforce housing tax credits; and
  • the MSU Local Government Center.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, the committee will review draft legislation related to:

  • regional fire protection authorities; and
  • the timeline for review of experimental on-site wastewater systems.

Other items the committee will discuss include local government data collection systems, COVID-related relief grants for local governments, the Flathead Basin Commission's study of aging and failing on-site wastewater systems, and will also review a draft final report of the committee's study: Senate Joint Resolution 3.

Members of the public who wish to participate may join the meeting virtually.  Those who wish to participate may email  toni.henneman@mt.gov by 5 p.m. on July 13 for instructions to join and participate in the meeting.

Written public comment via email are also accepted and encouraged. Written comments may be submitted in advance of the meeting to toni.henneman@mt.gov and will be provided to committee members, included in the minutes log, and posted to the committee webiste. All comments become aprt of hte committee's permanent public record.
